Guest Post: From Aspiring Make-up Artist Michelle Childs!

Michelle, a very talented make-up artist, helps women of all shades to reach their desired "level of beauty". She is a beautiful person, woman and mother and knows how hard women thrive to enhance their beauty and is there to help! Need tips or advice? Make her your go-to gal!

In a world where we are surrounded by so many beautiful women, where as many of them happen to be in the public eye; and are forced to look their very best at all times. Many of us are left wondering what is the secret to this fabulosity?! I may not have the answer to everything but as an aspiring makeup artist, my job is to help women reach that level of beauty and confidence that they seek when looking at their favorite celebrity on the cover of a magazine! Kim Kardashian and Beyonce make it look so easy to be beautiful! Although makeup may not be for everyone for those that enjoy getting 'glammed up' there are plenty of different cosmetics lines out there and many that carry different products that work differently for different people. A few of my favorites happen to be MAC, Bobbi Brown, NARS, a few lines carried at Sephora and many more! I am in the process of building my clientele which has been successfully growing over the past year. I have been inspired by so many other artists and in due time I will have a YouTube channel setup for those that would like to see my work. If you have any questions feel free to contact me @ m.childs0517@gmail.com and follow my Instagram @ iamshelly.

Beautiful ladies please do keep in mind, makeup is not used to make one beautiful, it is used to enhance beauty. Until next time!

DIY: From cookie haven, to coin heaven!

If you're like me, you can't walk past the cookie jar without grabbing one...ESPECIALLY if said cookie is an oreo!
*takes a moment to daydream about oreos*

BUT!!!! if you are like me, you are also trying to lose weight...so why not turn your cruel cookie haven into a coin heaven (aka an adult piggy bank/change jar)?!

Today, that is exactly what I did! I have no cookies in the house & I would love to start saving up for a new outfit or something for when I reach my weight-loss goal.

So, I grabbed a jar (doesn't have to be a cookie jar...any old jar will do), bought some cheap paint that works on glass, and a package of inexpensive craft brushes and ribbon.

I started by writing out what I wanted my jar to say and added little flowers and polka dots to jazz it up...

Then, on one side of the jar I added a flower, and sponged X's on the other side...however, the design of your jar is entirely up to you.

When you're done, add a ribbon around the top of the jar & VOILA! Your coin heaven is done, so ditch the cookies and start saving for those skinny jeans or a little black dress! ;)

Being non-artsy fartsy, your jar will probably turn out 100x better than mine, but that's ok...I had fun doing this :)

FitBit!

So I got a FitBit a few months back and...I LOVE IT! As a member on MyFitnessPal.com (MFP) I love that I can wear a little device all day, sync it to my laptop at the end of the day (which will also automatically update your MFP), & have a full account of my activity for the day!

FitbitI feel that before wearing the device, perhaps MFP was crediting me calories that I didn't earn. My FitBit helps keep me honest, and has really opened my eyes to how active I am.

Everyday you can challenge yourself to do more than you did yesterday and that is exactly what I intend to do!

FitBit is awesome and rather inexpensive (I got mine from Target)-- Just thought I'd share :)

Hope you all are doing well with your goals!
Stay strong! :)

Long Live Candice!

So Maddox's baby turtle Candice died last week...

& he just found out last night.

When she died, I had NO IDEA how to break the news to him...so I chickened out and decided to wait until he noticed. We still have 3 turtles, so I thought there was a good chance that he would never notice.

But nope...
(Candice is the smallest turtle on the left)

Last night, after dinner, the words I was dreading to hear rang in my ears, "Mom, where's Candice?"...I sat him down and explained to him (to the best of my ability) that Candice was sick and that she had died. He replied that I should get her out of the dirt and give her medicine...and then began to cry when I told him that that wasn't a possibility.

Saddest. thing. ever!

He had so many questions and some were difficult to answer...

Our great grandmother recently passed away, and now his turtle. I hate that he has had to experience loss so soon...yes, I know that death it is an inevitable topic, but having never died myself, and being that death is complicated...I just don't know how to put it in sufficient four year old terms...hell, I don't even understand it.

I know childhood innocence and naivety only last so long, but I wish there was some way to preserve it a little longer.

*Sigh*
